** 125 Years of Lamineries MATTHEY **

1901–2026: 125 years of history, expertise and innovation.

Founded in 1901 in La Neuveville by Édouard II MATTHEY, Lamineries MATTHEY has built its history around its mastery of precision cold rolling.

Over the decades, the company has evolved alongside the industry, from rolling carbon steels in its early days to working with stainless steels and maraging steels. From 1971 onwards, Lamineries MATTHEY further strengthened its specialization in beryllium copper, manufacturing cold-rolled strips as well as beryllium copper bars and tubes. Today, Lamineries MATTHEY also specializes in the production of ultra-thin strips made from superalloys, including Phynox® and MP35N®, designed for the most demanding applications.

The company is a recognized partner to customers in several high-technology sectors, particularly watchmaking, the medical sector, the manufacture of valves and pressure sensors, superconductors, and more.

In 2017, Lamineries MATTHEY became part of the NOTZgroup. This development opened a new chapter in the company's history while enabling it to preserve and further develop its unique expertise.

After 125 years, Lamineries MATTHEY, branch of Notz Metall AG, remains true to its core values: precision, quality, innovation and mastery of precision cold rolling of high-performance alloys. This commitment is also driven by the ever-increasing expectations of our customers, which continually challenge us to improve and innovate.

We warmly thank our customers and partners for their trust and loyalty, as well as all our employees, past and present, who have contributed—and continue to contribute—to writing the history of Lamineries MATTHEY.

125 years of expertise.

125 years of innovation.

125 years serving the technologies of tomorrow.

And the story continues…

NEWS

New alloy CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™

Lamineries MATTHEY is proud to introduce the new CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™ alloy by MATERION : a low-lead alloy complying with RoHS regulation (Pb ≤ 1000 ppm), available in bars and wire form.

CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™ is a copper-beryllium alloy that can be hardened by structural aging. CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™ bars and wires have mechanical and machinability properties similar to those of the M25 (CuBe2Pb) alloy.

Main characteristics of the CuBe Emery Low Lead™ alloy:

  • RoHS compliant (Lead < 1000 ppm)
  • Excellent machinability, comparable to that of M25 alloy
  • High hardness and mechanical strength, equivalent to M25 alloy
  • Perfect solution for connectors, including male or female Swiss turned contacts
  • Alternative for watchmaking, manufacture of precision Swiss turned components

For more information consult our technical data sheet, click here.

Although Emery Low Lead alloy is similar to M25 alloy, machine settings may require adjustment. For more information, refer to our Emery Low Lead Machining Tech Brief Guidelines.

New alloy L-605®

Lamineries MATTHEY is now proposing the L-605® alloy in the form of cold-rolled thin strips. L-605® is a cobalt-chromium-nickel-tungsten superalloy produced by a vacuum induction melting (VIM) process followed by electrolytic slag refining (ESR). It exhibits high mechanical strength, excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation (up to 1093ºC), excellent fatigue strength and excellent wear resistance (galling and cavitation). Moreover, alloy L-605® offers excellent corrosion resistance, is non-magnetic in all metallurgical tempers and has good radiopacity.

Lamineries MATTHEY cold rolled strips are widely used in the medical industry for the manufacture of welded tubes, stents, heart valves, electrodes, etc.

New alloy HASTELLOY® C-22

Lamineries MATTHEY is now proposing the Hastelloy® C-22 alloy in the form of cold-rolled thin strips.  This nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy is known for its exceptional resistance to corrosion (in oxidizing and non-oxidizing media), pitting, crevice and stress corrosion.

Lamineries MATTHEY cold rolled strips in Hastelloy® C-22 are used in the manufacture of diaphragm for Ultra High Purity (UHP) valves and regulators for the demanding semiconductor, solar and medical industries. Hastelloy® C-22 alloy can also be used in the chemical industry, for reactor vessels for acetic acid production, among others.

New alloy TOUGHMET® 3

Lamineries MATTHEY offer the new alloy ToughMet® 3 by MATERION  (lead- and beryllium-free), in bars & wire form.

ToughMet® 3 is a lead- and beryllium-free copper-nickel-tin alloy that can be hardened by spinodal decomposition. ToughMet® 3 in form of bars & wires have mechanical and machinability properties similar to those of CuBe2Pb alloy.

The main characteristics of ToughMet® 3 :

  • High hardness and mechanical properties
  • Excellent geometric stability of parts after treatment
  • Excellent wear resistance and self-lubrication
  • Excellent corrosion resistance in marine environments
  • REACH-compliant (lead-free).

ToughMet® 3 can be used in a wide range of applications, such as swiss turning, parts for the watchmaking and aerospace industries.
