Precision cold rolled strip and foil

Connector technology

The great technical challenges faced by the field of connector technology can be mastered by the use of high-performance alloys. Meeting stringent demands as to dimensional tolerances, surface conditions and mechanical strength is a strong point of Lamineries MATTHEY. Besides conventional connector alloys such as brass, bronze etc., we also offer high performance products such as copper-beryllium alloys and other high-end copper alloys. These materials have the required properties for the connector industry such as: Excellent electrical conductivity combined with high mechanical strength, good stress relaxation resistance at elevated temperatures, fatigue resistance, non-magnetic behaviour, and more. Certain stainless steels typically used in connector applications are also included in Lamineries MATTHEY's product portfolio.

See the brochures "Guide to Copper Beryllium" or the "Design Guide" for help in designing with CuBe.

Below, you may find a list with strip and foil alloys that are typically used in connector applications together with the available technical data:

Not only rolled products are used in connector applications.  Many coaxial connectors are also manufactured out of rod or wires, mainly trhough precision turning or, to a lesser extent, through cold heading. These terminals are predominantly used in the telecommunication, aerospace and automotive industry as well as in safety engineering applications. Connectors which need to satisfy the highest demands are typically made from copper-berylium alloy. For the customers in the precision screw machining industry, Lamineries MATTHEY maintains an extensive stock of rod and wire made of copper-berylium alloy, with low-lead content to facilitate machining.
